Auto Leveling Outrigger Pins | Rosenbauer Cobra Aerial Training

In this training video, instructor Melissa McKiernan teaches firefighters how to secure impalements and stabilize a person who fell from a roof in an EMS training scenario, at Carolina Fire Days 2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

When you arrive on scene, the last thing you need is to have to zero in the truck’s outriggers before you can deploy the aerial. Take a look as Ernie Young highlights and deploys the auto-leveling outriggers from Rosenbauer!

So I do have this ability to auto level, so I got that side set. You may or may not want to use this. All I have to do is make contact, so I’ll contact that outrigger.

Once it sees they contacted, all it’s going to do is find really close to zero, probably within 0.5. Okay. So yeah, 0.5, 0.4. So that’s a pretty decent setup, but is it the setup you want? But one of my setup requirements I like to see is I almost get it to where I feel like it’s slide a piece of paper underneath it, but not now.

I have more need for. Slick conditions and having the tire contact. You guys may not hang it. If that’s what you’re comfortable with. Do what you do, okay? It doesn’t hurt the truck at all. It gives you a good, hard set. You know for sure that you’re hard, not soft, nothing like getting out there and figuring out that you got a soft set because you’re wiggling all over the place.
