How do you set your stabilizers? There’s a science to the flex! Ernie Young (Western Regional Sales Manager) stopped by to demonstrate a specialized trick for the Rosenbauer SMART aerial system.
Instead of a standard level, Ernie suggests pushing one set of outriggers slightly higher first. When the system finds that zero plane, the result is a noticeably stronger, more stable set that gives the whole crew peace of mind when they’re up on the ladder.
Check out the video to see the SMART system in action!.

Once this season, I’ve got full contact all the way around and usually if I’m gonna do it to avoid a soft set because like I said, it’s only looking for that first zero. It’s gonna get with contact. It may be real loose. So I’ll push one side and then I’ll hit that and I’ll go over and do that. It’s just another tool. That’s cool. A lot of people are really comfortable, but sometimes if you get somebody that transfers over and isn’t super familiar, they’re just learning. You can kinda see it gave us a pretty good set on here. Um, at zero. I could use that all jacks down just as a momentary to kind of bring my truck back in line.
